Agile culture transformation
SITUATION
Objective: Align company’s purpose and strategy; Become an agile organization
Situation:
- Lack of organizational alignment across 5,000+ employees around strategy
- Low employee engagement survey scores
- Development of organizational silos over time
- Lack of fast adaptation to to market / competitor changes
- Strong desire to become more agile to improve collaboration across business units, empower employees, and be accountable for results
APPROACH
- Held executive workshops at a two-day strategic offsite to realign company’s purpose and strategic priorities, and identified ten improvement opportunities to build a better culture
- Launched culture transformation initiatives using agile framework where I acted as Chief Scrum Master (and the company’s President as the Chief Product Owner) to oversee five cross-functional teams across Canada
- Provided agile training to over 50 culture ambassadors across the company
DELIVERABLES
- Strategic framework with the company’s purpose and story, along with culture transformation priorities
- Developed communications strategy to expose all employees to culture transformation
- Recommended change management plan to transform into agile culture
- Tracked and reported results to executive team on the five agile team’s pilot projects and tests to improve culture
- Proposed governance structure going forward so that culture transformation initiatives are continuous and ongoing
